Some ideas start in a boardroom. MACH1 was born on the water.

Right here in Wilmington, North Carolina, best friends Brian and Matt realized the true magic of the Cape Fear coast was being completely missed. Too many visitors looking for things to do in Wilmington, NC were stuck on slow, crowded commercial tour boats, or left standing on the shore watching the ocean instead of actually experiencing it. They knew there had to be a better way—something more personal, more exhilarating, and entirely unforgettable.

A Passion for Escape Meets Local Maritime Expertise

MACH1 was built from two driving forces: a relentless passion for escape and deep local maritime expertise. Brian spent years in the corporate finance world, surrounded by spreadsheets and office walls, while dreaming of a high-octane breakout. Ready to break free from the desk job, he left his corporate career to build a water adventure tour company defined by freedom, style, and discovery.

Meanwhile, Matt and his wife Carrie, both licensed Coast Guard Captains, were already anchored to the North Carolina coast. They spent years navigating hidden waterways, assisting local boaters, and exploring remote barrier islands. In fact, it was Carrie who mastered the art of tracking down prehistoric shark teeth, teaching Matt the secrets of the tides and ancient fossils.

When Brian’s vision for a premier coastal breakout met Matt and Carrie’s deep knowledge of local waters, the blueprint for MACH1 came to life.
